Is Florida Just Wacky?

Florida is one of the premier vacation destinations in the United States. That being said, some pretty crazy stuff happens down here. Some of it is due to the weather, and some of it is just due to the incredible mix of people that visit the area on a regular basis. One thing is for sure though, if you are looking for a great time, make sure you come to Florida!

One the most interesting things about Florida is the weather. It can literally change in the blink of an eye. People are sitting on the beach enjoying a beautiful, sunny day and the next thing you know, they are running for cover as the skies open up and the rains furiously fall. Ten minutes after the first drop falls, the skies are blue and everything is beautiful again. It is something that truly has to be experienced in order to be appreciated.

Another unique aspect of Florida is the interaction with both tourists and locals. Because people from all over the world settle and visit this sunny state, you are just as likely to bump into someone from Cuba as you are Maine. When all of these cultures come together, it makes for some pretty interesting happenings and makes for great people watching.

The wildlife in Florida is very unique, from the famous gators to the beautiful flamingos. Here is a goofy fact. Did you know that flamingos actually get their pink color from the shrimp that they eat? The brighter the color, the more shrimp our feathered friend is consuming. As beautiful as those flamingo’s are, the gators are just as dangerous. Do not get to the urge to feed one of those creatures because you like they way they look on the University of Florida’s football helmets or you just may find yourself in an emergency room.

While some of these goofy facts are rather obvious, there are some crazy laws in Florida. For instance, did you know that the doors of all public offices in Florida must open outwards? Something even sillier is the law that makes it illegal for a woman to fall asleep while under the hair dryer in Florida. Not only can she be fined, but the salon owner can as well! If you ever need an excuse to ask for a cup of free coffee when getting your hair done, you have it now!
